From Questions to Confidence: Why Sweeth Took Action in Dental 3D Printing

Discover how Sweeth turns feedback from dental professionals into practical lectures and hands-on workshops, helping make dental 3D printing clear, accessible, and achievable.

The Digital Revolution Transforming Belgium and the Netherlands

The dental 3D printing market in the Benelux is experiencing unprecedented growth, with both Belgium and the Netherlands leading the way in European adoption of this groundbreaking technology. With the European market expected to reach EUR 4,348.2 million by 2030, at a remarkable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.3%, both countries find themselves at the center of a fundamental shift in dental care delivery.

However, the numbers tell only part of the story. While the global dental 3D printing industry is on track to reach EUR 10.06 billion by 2030, with an impressive CAGR of 20.5%, the human element reveals a more complex reality. Through our extensive engagement with dental communities across both Belgium and the Netherlands, we at Sweeth have discovered that behind the excitement for this technology lies a landscape of uncertainty, questions, and genuine concerns about implementation.

Shared Challenges: The Excitement and the Overwhelm

Despite differences in market dynamics, Belgium and the Netherlands face remarkably similar challenges when it comes to adopting dental 3D printing technology. Whether we speak with established practices in Amsterdam or emerging clinics in Brussels, the same question consistently arises: “It sounds powerful, but where do we even start?”

Walk into any dental conference in Belgium or the Netherlands, and you’ll immediately witness the palpable excitement surrounding dental 3D printing. Conversations buzz with discussions about the latest printers, innovative resins, streamlined workflows, and cutting-edge software solutions. Dental practices are investing significantly in this technology, driven by the promise of reduced production times—from weeks to just 2–3 hours—enhanced precision in 3D dental model printing, and the ability to offer patients truly personalized dental solutions.

Yet this enthusiasm is often accompanied by uncertainty. Market leaders such as Stratasys and 3D Systems offer advanced solutions, but for many practices the path to successful implementation remains unclear. Technical considerations add further layers of complexity: which printer specifications truly matter? How do material properties influence long-term outcomes for patients?

The benefits of dental 3D printing are evident—improved patient outcomes, increased efficiency, and competitive advantages—but for many dental professionals in Belgium and the Netherlands, the journey from excitement to confident adoption is still a challenge.

From Excitement to Action

This gap between interest and implementation is exactly where many dental professionals find themselves: motivated to innovate, yet uncertain about the next steps. And it’s precisely this moment—where curiosity meets hesitation—that calls for guidance, structure, and hands-on support.

Education Through Experience

At Sweeth, we saw a clear pattern: dental professionals are excited about the possibilities of 3D printing, but many feel unsure about how to start, which tools to choose, and how to fit digital workflows into everyday clinical practice. These weren’t obstacles—they were signals that dentistry needs practical learning opportunities, not just technology.

So rather than assume that enthusiasm alone would drive adoption, Sweeth takes action by creating structured, experience-based education designed to build real confidence.

Practical Lecture: Digital Orthodontics — From Planning to 3D Printing

This full-day lecture is designed to guide dental professionals through the entire digital orthodontic workflow, from initial case planning to final 3D-printed production. Rather than focusing on theory alone, the lecture bridges the gap between digital concepts and real clinical practice, showing how digital orthodontics can be applied effectively in day-to-day patient care.

Participants gain practical insights into treatment planning, digital aligner workflows, and the role of 3D printing within modern orthodontics. The lecture also addresses key decision points—such as choosing the right tools, understanding material options, and optimizing workflows—to help practices move beyond experimentation toward confident, consistent implementation.

By combining clinical context with practical expertise, this lecture equips dental professionals with the knowledge and confidence needed to translate digital orthodontic planning into predictable, high-quality outcomes. The session is led by orthodontist Isabelle Savoye and Jens (dental technician at Sweeth), who together provide a clear, practical, and directly applicable overview of digital orthodontics.

During the lecture, participants will:

  • explore how aligner planning and 3D printing fit into everyday workflows
  • understand the difference between printed and thermoformed aligners and retainers
  • follow a step-by-step demonstration of the 3D printing workflow
  • engage in a live Q&A with experts in digital orthodontics and 3D printing

Practical Information:

📍Location: Kontich — De Jachthoorn
📅 Date: 28.05.2026
🕙 Time: 09:30 – 17:30

Language: Dutch

This lecture is intended for orthodontists, dentists, and team members who want a clear overview of how digital orthodontics and 3D printing can be applied in daily practice.

Hands-On Workshop: Learning by Doing

To help dental professionals move from curiosity to confident action, we’re offering a Hands-On 3D Printing Workshop: Learn to 3D Print Models and Retainers — a practice-oriented session that focuses on doing, not just listening.

Unlike traditional lectures, this workshop is designed around active participation so you can see firsthand what 3D printing can mean for your clinical workflow. You’ll work directly with the latest 3D printing technology and engage with the digital workflow from scan to finished print — giving you clear insight into each step of the process in a real-world setting.

During the workshop, participants will:

  • work directly with 3D printers and materials
  • experience the workflow from scan to print
  • learn practical tips for integrating 3D printing efficiently into their practice

Upcoming workshop dates and locations include:

📍26.03.2026 — Zwijnaarde (Nieuwgoed Seminariecentrum)

📍30.04.2026 — Kontich (De Jachthoorn)

📍07.05.2026 — Winksele (De Smederij / De Hoeve)

Language: Dutch

🕙 Workshops typically run from 10:15 – 15:15.
